The Fort Calhoun Pioneers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 77-49 win over Concordia. Fort Calhoun has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Fort Calhoun's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raeann Massey, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Massey is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ansley Elofson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Concordia still got an impressive performance from Eliza Schmidt, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Charis Hughes, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Concordia struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fort Calhoun pulled down 20 offensive rebounds.
The win was the fourth in a row for Fort Calhoun, bringing their record for this year to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Concordia, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Calhoun will take on Mead at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mead is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Concordia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Concordia in Nebraska (Lincoln Christian is ranked fifth, while Concordia is ranked 215th).
