The Wissahickon Trojans fell victim to the Downingtown East Cougars''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Cougars 56-0. While losing is never fun, Wissahickon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Downingtown East is ranked tenth).
Nolan Pounds threw for 107 yards on seven of 21 attempts. Quentin "q" West was his top target, picking up 101 receiving yards. On the ground, Quasir Sampson rushed for 37 yards.
Wissahickon are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.3 points per game. As for Downingtown East, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Wissahickon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Downingtown East will be playing in front of their home fans against Perkiomen Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perkiomen Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
