The Connersville Spartans will head out to challenge the Hauser Jets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Connersville will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Connersville took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Shelbyville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Golden Bears 7-5.
Jade Green made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.
In other batting news, Bre Brock was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carmen Ruble, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hauser). They blew past North Decatur 13-4 on Thursday. With that victory, the Jets brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Haven Hartwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits.
At the plate, Hauser got a massive performance out of Haylin Campbell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave Campbell a new career-high. Cheyenne Moody also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Hauser always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Connersville pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Hauser, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Connersville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. However, it's not like Hauser struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Connersville came up short against Hauser in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
