The Eldorado Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Flora Wolves at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Eldorado is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Eldorado, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-32 loss to Carmi-White County. While losing is never fun, Eldorado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while Carmi-White County is ranked 185th).
Meanwhile, Flora had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 44-33 win over Christ Our Rock Lutheran on Saturday. That looming 44-33 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Flora yet this season.
Eldorado has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Flora, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18.
Eldorado came up short against Flora in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 51-45. Can Eldorado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
