The Brookfield Warriors pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of LaBrae. While losing is never fun, Brookfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while the Vikings are ranked 202nd).
Despite the loss, Brookfield had strong showings from Matteo Fortuna, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Judah Dejoy, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Fortuna is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagen Barbe, who scored nine points.
Brookfield has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for LaBrae, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2.
Brookfield will challenge the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Memorial's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for LaBrae, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. Liberty has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 5.
