The Adams Central Jets will take on the Whitko Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Adams Central has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Adams Central and Jay County meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Jets came up short against the Patriots, falling 11-1.
Adams Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Everett, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Whitko played in-conference for the first time on Wednesday and got just the result they were looking for. Everything went their way against Lewis Cass as they made off with a 9-3 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Cooper Laukhuf made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Whitko got a big performance out of Mason Hersha, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was Hersha's first of the season. Hunter Long was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Adams Central's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-9-1. As for Whitko, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Everything went Adams Central's way against Whitko when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Adams Central made off with a 17-7 win. Will the Jets repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
