The St. Raphael Academy Saints will head out to face off against the East Providence Townies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Raphael Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so East Providence's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither St. Raphael Academy nor West Warwick made it on the board until the eighth inning. The Saints fell just short of the Wizards by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Saints couldn't push the score so high this time.

Isabella Sousa put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jaliyah De Los Santos was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, East Providence faced Cranston West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Townies came up short against the Falcons, falling 11-5. The Townies' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
East Providence also got a good showing from Cassie Dulude, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Nethania Figueroa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
East Providence now has a losing record of 7-8. As for St. Raphael Academy, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. St. Raphael Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like East Providence struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
St. Raphael Academy beat East Providence 6-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Townies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
