The Putnam County War Eagles pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Westside 100-64. Putnam County has struggled against the Patriots recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Putnam County still got an impressive performance from Landon Bonner, who scored 28 points along with two steals. That was a full 43.8% of Putnam County's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jmari Greene, who scored eight points along with two blocks.
DeMarco Middleton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Westside, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 assists. Middleton hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was LaVonta Ivery, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Putnam County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Westside, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Putnam County will head out on the road to challenge the Golden Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they will be playing at home against the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Glenn Hills comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
