It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Cooper Bulldogs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 74-71 win over Boles. With that victory, Cooper brought their scoring average up to 51.8 points per game.
Alfred Wilkerson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Markell Smith, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Boles still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Cruthird, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 45.1% of Boles' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Zion Mcfadden was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Cooper is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Boles, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10.
Cooper will take on Fruitvale at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Fruitvale is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Boles, they will head out on the road to square off against Alba-Golden at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
