With a playoff game on the line, the Churchill Bulldogs rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down the Barons 27-13. The victory was familiar territory for Churchill who now have eight in a row.
David Avit continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 201 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Avit is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Although Bethesda-Chevy Chase took the loss, they still got scores from Nelson Smith and Andre Ekani.
Churchill pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points per game. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Churchill will play host again and welcome Broadneck, where kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Broadneck: 12.8, Churchill: 15.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Bethesda-Chevy Chase does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
