The Barbour County Jaguars are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Tallassee Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th.
Barbour County's 16-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Charles Henderson on the road and fell 74-32. While losing is never fun, Barbour County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Charles Henderson is ranked 170th).
Tallassee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Ellwood Christian 79-38 on the road.
Rowen Thornton was his usual excellent self, scoring 50 points. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Monkia Hooks, who scored 10 points.
Barbour County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Tallassee, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Barbour County skirted past Tallassee 67-64 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Barbour County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
