Delta hasn't had much luck against Carbon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Delta will challenge Carbon at 3:00 p.m. Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Delta's last matchup with Richfield could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. Delta lost 10-2 to Richfield. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rabbits, who until this contest were averaging 3.5 runs allowed.
Ashton Stefanoff was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Stefanoff wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Davies, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carbon). They blew past North Sanpete 11-4 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Dinos with their most commanding win of the season.
Carbon got a big performance out of Kanyon Grant, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tyrus Madsen, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Carbon's record is now 3-7. As for Delta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Carbon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Delta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Carbon, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Delta's hitters?
Delta suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Carbon when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Delta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
