The Hamilton Huskies had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over Chandler. Given Hamilton's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Chandler is ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hamilton found their leader in underclassman Callie Hinder, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Hinder hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Creal, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Chandler saw an underclassman step up: Jayla Freeman scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Karina Hunter, who scored six points.
Chandler struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Hamilton pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Chandler, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-11.
Hamilton will play host again and welcome Millennium, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chandler, they will head out on the road to square off against Xavier College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
