Two dominant players in Omar Davis and Perry Fields are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Overbrook Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Constitution Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Overbrook will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 184th, while Constitution is ranked 46th).
After a string of three wins, Overbrook's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Middletown.
Nasir Kelly put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Tahmiere Manning was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Constitution posted their biggest victory since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Mastery Charter North - Pickett 71-49. The victory was familiar territory for Constitution who now have three in a row.
Constitution's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyree Latimer, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Fields, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Overbrook's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Constitution, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Overbrook have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 40.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Constitution struggles in that department as they've drained 46.4% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Overbrook came up short against Constitution when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 76-65. Thankfully for Overbrook, Tymir Brown-Smalls (who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
