Baseball Recap: Lyons Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Lyons was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Leyden on Saturday. The Lions blew past the Eagles 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Luka Luburic looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Tommy Georgelos was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Nicholaus, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lyons was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was in their last seven contests.

Lyons pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Leyden, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Lyons wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-4 defeat against Hinsdale Central on the 5th. As for Leyden, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Hinsdale South on the 5th.
