Mullen is on a three-game streak of home losses, Sandhills Valley a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Mullen Broncos will take on the Sandhills Valley Mavericks at TBD on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Mullen was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-38 to Sandhills/Thedford. Mullen has not had much luck with Sandhills/Thedford recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Mullen's loss came about despite a quality game from Peyton Paxton, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Paxton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Georgia Wingebach, who scored five points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Sandhills Valley was beaten by Cozad 53-10 on Tuesday. Sandhills Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-5.
Mullen has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Sandhills Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
Mullen skirted past Sandhills Valley 41-38 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Mullen repeat their success, or does Sandhills Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
