Softball Recap: Ouachita Parish Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ouachita Parish had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Beekman Charter Tigers as they made off with a 17-2 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Alayjha Matthews made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had over her last seven games. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journee Williams, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ainsley Blaylock, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Ouachita Parish was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Ouachita Parish's record is now 12-5. As for Beekman Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Ouachita Parish wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-6 victory against Franklin Parish on the 17th. As for Beekman Charter, they are taking a road trip to take on Mangham at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beekman Charter has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
