Given Rivermont Collegiate's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 251st in Iowa, while East Moline Christian is ranked 661st in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rivermont Collegiate's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eamon Matlock, who scored 18 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Matlock scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Soulaymane El Jerari, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Rivermont Collegiate has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for East Moline Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rivermont Collegiate will take on Quad Cities Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Moline Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
