Federal Way and Mt. Rainier are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Federal Way is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Federal Way couldn't beat Enumclaw on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Eagles fell 10-7 to the Hornets. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly three runs.

Thoma Holden was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Federal Way's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Orlando Young, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Mt. Rainier hadn't done well against Kentridge recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rams never let the Chargers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The matchup marked the Rams' most dominant win of the season.
Rylan Keane made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Keane was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Johnny Hall was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Nolan Enghusen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Mt. Rainier and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Federal Way, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Federal Way has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mt. Rainier struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Federal Way might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Mt. Rainier in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
