The Anderson Valley Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 77-15 defeat at the hands of Point Arena. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Anderson Valley has scored all season.
Point Arena was led to victory by Fernando Lopez and Derek Billy. Lopez dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Billy scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Lopez is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dauki Bechtol, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and two steals.
Anderson Valley bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Point Arena, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Anderson Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Laytonville at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Laytonville is ranked 1427th, while Anderson Valley is ranked 1407th). Point Arena won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Calistoga at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th.
