Fairview is 0-5 against Defiance since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Apaches will square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Fairview is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Fairview barely beat Pandora-Gilboa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Apaches blew past the Rockets 14-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Zane Timbrook was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Logan Olinger also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Fairview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Defiance came up short against Fort Wayne Snider on Saturday and fell 8-5. The loss was the Bulldogs' first of the season.
Brady Borton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Logan Hutcheson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fairview pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Defiance, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 20-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fairview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Defiance struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fairview suffered a grim 20-8 defeat to Defiance in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Apaches avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
