Softball Recap: Clinton Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clinton won against Madison on Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the Redwolves' way against the Bronson Vikings as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The Redwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Ashlynn Benschoter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kylinn Long and Mya Popkey did most of the damage at the plate: Long went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Popkey got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Taryn Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win was the fourth in a row for Clinton, bringing their record up to 11-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bronson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Clinton will square off against Linden at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bronson, they will face off against Brandywine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
