Spanish Fork is a perfect 10-0 against Payson since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Spanish Fork's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
If Spanish Fork beats Payson with 12 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Dons put the hurt on Salem Hills with a sharp 12-2 victory on Thursday. Considering the Dons have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayden Lambson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nixon Warren was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cohen Nelson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Spanish Fork was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Payson came into Thursday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Wasatch on Thursday.
Payson got a massive performance out of Ty Marvin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one double. Brigzen Houser was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run and three runs.
Spanish Fork's victory bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Payson, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Spanish Fork hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Payson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Spanish Fork came out on top in a nail-biter against Payson in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
