Softball Recap: Blanchester Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Blanchester extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 10-8 in the process. They came out on top against the Clermont Northeastern Rockets by a score of 9-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 last Tuesday.

Reece Ledford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, Bailie Bare was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Binkley, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Clermont Northeastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7. Rockets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Blanchester since on Wednesday.

On Clermont Northeastern's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jenna Brown gave up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Bella Wilson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double. Karlee Gamble was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Blanchester will look to defend their home field on Friday against Williamsburg at 4:30 p.m. Williamsburg's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Blanchester's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Clermont Northeastern, they will take on East Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets are facing the Astros at the right time seeing as the Astros are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
