The Florence Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 58-27 loss at the hands of Manitou Springs. Florence found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 30% worse than the opposition.
Despite the loss, Florence still got an impressive performance from Jordyn Adamson, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Manitou Springs was led to victory by McKesson Rhodes and Brooklynn Sheffield. Rhodes scored 16 points along with three steals, while Sheffield scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Rhodes scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Tori Greene, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Florence's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.2 points per game. As for Manitou Springs, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence will challenge the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manitou Springs, they will head out on the road to challenge the Thunder at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
