Softball Recap: Fuqua Wins Going Away Against Cumberland

The Fuqua Falcons made easy work of the Cumberland Dukes on Monday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kaylie Ledger was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lottie Mae Hazlegrove, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

The win made it two in a row for Fuqua and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Cumberland, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Fuqua will square off against Tidewater Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tidewater Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.75 runs per game on average), something Fuqua will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cumberland, they are taking a road trip to square off against Lunenburg Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Cumberland their first taste of in-conference action this season.
