The Williams Field Black Hawks waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They walked away with a 45-32 victory over Casteel. Given Williams Field's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Colts are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Williams Field got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Savanah Horotn out in front who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Latoya Brooks was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Several Colts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackie Rosado, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Lewis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Williams Field has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Casteel, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Casa Grande the next time they take the court. Casteel will host Casa Grande at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Williams Field will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
