Elkhorn South hasn't had much luck against Millard South recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Storm will take on the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. Elkhorn South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Elkhorn South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Creighton Prep, who was ranked 18th at the time (Elkhorn South was ranked 14th). The Storm had just enough and edged out the Junior Jays 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Storm have posted since March 25th.

Brody Jindra made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has become a key player for Elkhorn South: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Jindra was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
Jindra wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Lofdahl, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Millard South entered their tilt with Bryan on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. Considering the Patriots have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cal Boyer looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Brady Perich was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Appuhn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Millard South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Millard South's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Elkhorn South, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Elkhorn South has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Millard South struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Elkhorn South couldn't quite finish off Millard South when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Storm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
