Hillsboro is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ferris Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Hillsboro turned things around against Itasca on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Wampus Cats. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mason Lewis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Carson Barker was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Braxton Borde, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Hillsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Ferris brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against Eustace on Saturday as they made off with a 19-7 win. The Yellowjackets not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1, 2025 (when they won 18-1).
Ferris got a massive performance out of Aldo Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Graham Dixon was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Hillsboro's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Ferris, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5-1.
