After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mesquite, the Basha Bears were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-45 win over Mountain Ridge. Given Basha's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Mountain Ridge is ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Basha found their leader in underclassman Grace Beckler, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey O'connor, who scored 11 points.
Basha's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Mountain Ridge, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basha will take on Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Pointe comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
