New Rockford-Sheyenne pushed their score all the way to 55 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Benson County [Leeds/Maddock]. While losing is never fun, New Rockford-Sheyenne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] is ranked 28th).
Meanwhile, Harvey's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They snuck past Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood with a 44-40 win.
Harvey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rachel Neumiller, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Neumiller continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Braylee Keller was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
New Rockford-Sheyenne has fallen quite a ways from their 12-3 record last season and are now at 1-7. As for Harvey, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9-1.
New Rockford-Sheyenne came up short against Harvey in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 45-36. Thankfully for New Rockford-Sheyenne, Kalyn Keller (who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
