Even though the Moreno Valley Vikings have not done well against the San Bernardino Cardinals recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Moreno Valley took down San Bernardino 65-46. For Moreno Valley, this counts as revenge for the 64-51 loss San Bernardino walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.
Jamall Thompson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Alijah Maloid was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the defeat, San Bernardino saw an underclassman step up: George McEwen scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ruelas, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
The win got Moreno Valley back to even at 10-10. As for San Bernardino, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
Moreno Valley will be playing at home against Valley View at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Valley View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday. San Bernardino won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pacific at 6:15 p.m. on January 16th.
