Two dominant backs in Marcell Sims and Brant Beck are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Maconaquah Braves will head out to take on the Rochester Zebras at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maconaquah will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Maconaquah gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They pulled ahead with a 29-28 photo finish over Manchester. The win almost wasn't to be: the Braves were down 28-0 in the second quarter.

Maconaquah's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Tarrh, who picked up 219 receiving yards and one touchdown. That's the most receiving yards Tarrh has posted since back in August. Aiden Robinson was another key player, having thrown for 379 yards and onetouchdown.
Maconaquah's defense stepped up as well, laying out Dallas Martin five times. In that department, Chase Washburn was the leader with two sacks. He has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Rochester humbled Northwestern with a 49-7 victory. Considering the Zebras have won seven matchups by more than 33 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Rochester's win came from a few key players Maconaquah will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kale Shotts, who rushed for 124 yards and one score on only six carries. Trenton Meadows was another key player, rushing for 96 yards and one TD on only seven carries.
Rochester was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 444 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Maconaquah's record is now 8-0. As for Rochester, their record now sits at 7-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Maconaquah has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 309.2 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Rochester, though, as they've been averaging only 43.1 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Maconaquah strolled past Rochester in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 30-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
