North Tampa Christian Academy posted their closest win since November 30, 2023 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Verot and snuck past 62-59. Given North Tampa Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Bishop Verot is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Tampa Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Toni Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Bryant is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Landyn Colyer, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Sunlake put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Steinbrenner with a sharp 73-49 win. The score was close at the half, but Sunlake pulled away in the second half with 41 points.
Nelson Marshall was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Manntavius Goodman, who scored 14 points.
North Tampa Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Sunlake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
