The Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes will challenge the Little Chute Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fox Valley Lutheran has 11 straight victories, Little Chute has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fox Valley Lutheran will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Luxemburg-Casco, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Foxes walked away with a 6-2 win over the Spartans on Tuesday.
Brianna Dahlke and Madison Babcock made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Dahlke tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Babcock didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Dahlke has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Dahlke went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Babcock went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Babcock has hit this season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Claire Pfrang, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Little Chute's offense. They came up short against Denmark on Tuesday, falling 22-0.
Little Chute's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Fox Valley Lutheran, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Little Chute's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fox Valley Lutheran hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. It's a different story for Little Chute, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Fox Valley Lutheran's hitters?
