After a string of 13 wins, the Burbank Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by MacArthur 72-43. Burbank has not had much luck with MacArthur recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zara'nique Nealy, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Nealy's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Olivia De la cruz was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
MacArthur got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lyah Neira out in front who scored 25 points along with five assists. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Lee, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Burbank's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7. As for MacArthur, they pushed their record up to 17-10 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Burbank will head out on the road to face off against Brackenridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Brackenridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for MacArthur, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Alamo Heights at 7:30 p.m.
