The Mt. Zion Bulldogs lost against the Woodland Wolfpack back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mt. Zion fell to Woodland 43-37. Mt. Zion has not had much luck with Woodland recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Mt. Zion saw an underclassman step up: Makayla Juhan scored 19 points. That was a full 51.4% of Mt. Zion's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Akira Brown went supernova for Woodland, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Riley, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Mt. Zion has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Woodland, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Mt. Zion will be playing at home against McDonough at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodland, they will head out on the road to challenge Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton is coming into the game with five straight losses at home, meaning Woodland will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
