Even though Olentangy Berlin scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Olentangy still came out on top. Olentangy managed a 62-58 win over Olentangy Berlin. Given Olentangy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Olentangy Berlin is ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Ulysses Ponder, who scored 23 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Grover, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Westland pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 85-65 loss to Lincoln might stick with them for a while. Olentangy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Westland, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
