Even though the Brady Eagles have not done well against the Maxwell Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Brady secured a 34-29 W over Maxwell. The win was familiar territory for Brady who now have three in a row.
Brady's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Lydic, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Taryn Stearns was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Maxwell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jocelyn Cheek. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with six rebounds and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristyn Cheek, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Brady's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Maxwell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brady will take on Overton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Averaging 54.2 so far this season, Overton's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Brady better be ready for a challenge. As for Maxwell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sandhills Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sandhills Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
