Davis Sr. has gone a perfect 3-0 against Del Oro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Blue Devils will square off against the Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Davis Sr.'s pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Del Oro's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Davis Sr. is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Jesuit just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to the Marauders. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Davis Sr. got a good showing from Dylan Beamish, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Davis Sr. saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Burnham, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Del Oro hadn't done well against Granite Bay recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Golden Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Grizzlies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted against the Grizzlies since May 5, 2023.
Jackson Stewart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nico Busalacchi, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Lucas Pusterla also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Davis Sr.'s defeat dropped their record down to 9-5-1. As for Del Oro, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Davis Sr. was able to grind out a solid win over Del Oro in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
