After a string of seven wins dating back to last season, Sayville's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 46-37 to the Kings Park Kingsmen. The Golden Flashes were probably out for revenge after losing 55-43 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kings Park found their leader in sophomore Riley Currier, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Currier has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Zawol, who posted 11 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds.
Sayville's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. As for Kings Park, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Sayville will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Miller Place at 10:30 p.m. on January 20, 2025. As for Kings Park, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-54 loss against Islip on the 18th.
