Basketball Recap: Sickles Piles Up the Points Against Durant

Sickles entered their tilt with Durant on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They claimed a resounding 88-50 victory over the Durant Cougars. The Gryphons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Sickles found their leader in sophomore Chase Weismiller, who went 8 for 13 en route to 23 points. Eddy Hernandez was another key player, going 7 of 10 on his way to 14 points and eight boards.

Durant's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Niko Sosa, who posted four points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Ian Ibanez, who earned eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Suarez, who put up nine points.

Sickles is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Durant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Sickles has already played their next match, a 57-55 win against Wharton on the 21st. As for Durant, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 83-45 loss against Palmetto on the 18th.
