The Ottawa Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Princeton Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Princeton will be up against a hot Ottawa team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Pirates never let Rochelle get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Princeton had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Seneca 11-1 on Thursday. The Tigers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26th (when they won 13-1).
William Lott made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Princeton is 4-1 when Lott posts two or more runs, but 5-11-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Princeton let Ace Christiansen and Noah LaPorte run wild. Christiansen went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while LaPorte went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. LaPorte has become a key player for Princeton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 6-12-1 otherwise. Jace Stuckey was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Ottawa's record now sits at 15-13. As for Princeton, their record is now 9-12-1.
Ottawa came up short against Princeton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 12-9. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
