Baseball Recap: Lucas' Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Lucas dropped their record down to 10-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 8-5 to the Wynford Royals. If the Cubs were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Royals when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rayden Caudill was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Wynford, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Wynford's side, Hunter Routson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Routson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Wynford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

Routson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Johnson has launched this season. Landon Miller was another, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lucas will square off against Northmor at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cubs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wynford, they will challenge Colonel Crawford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
