Softball Recap: Dunlap Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pekin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dunlap). They never let the Pekin Dragons get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Dunlap got a massive performance out of Gabby Drake, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave Drake a new career-high. Ella Cunningham also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Dunlap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Dunlap's record now sits at 9-3. As for Pekin, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Dunlap will take on rival Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.4, the Rockets 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pekin is set to challenge their familiar foe Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
