Even though Hammond Central scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Hammond Bishop Noll still came out on top. Hammond Bishop Noll took their contest against Hammond Central 66-57.
Hammond Bishop Noll had a senior duo take command as Amauri Moore scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and Caleb Parks scored 17 points. Moore hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Khalel Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wheeler's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calumet New Tech.
Wheeler's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Marek Barton, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Brady Rife who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Barton scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Blane, who scored four points along with five assists.
Hammond Bishop Noll pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Wheeler, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Everything came up roses for Hammond Bishop Noll against Wheeler in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 69-37 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Wheeler's Jalen Lewis, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Hammond Bishop Noll to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
