Paw Paw came out on top against Otsego on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Red Wolves put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 8-2 win. The Red Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.
Gunnar Goodell made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Paw Paw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Otsego only posted a batting average of .250.
Paw Paw has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Otsego, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12.
Looking ahead, Paw Paw will take on Coloma at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Otsego, they will square off against Three Rivers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
