After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Germantown, the White Station Spartans were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Overton by a score of 51-38. That's another feather in the cap for White Station, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
White Station's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lalia Willis led the charge by scoring 11 points along with three steals. Zamiya Riley was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals and two blocks.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kierra Baldwin, who scored 15 points along with two steals. That was a full 39.5% of Overton's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyiesha Hollimon, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
White Station's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. As for Overton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
White Station will head out on the road to square off against Whitehaven at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitehaven has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 270 points over their last four contests. As for Overton, they will be playing at home against Kingsbury at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Kingsbury: 29.7, Overton: 25.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
