The Bunkie Panthers had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 73-17 defeat at the hands of Peabody on Monday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bunkie in their matchups with Peabody: they've now lost four in a row.
Peabody's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Mathews has scored at least 25% of Peabody's points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Jones, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
Bunkie's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Peabody, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Bunkie will head out on the road to face off against Breaux Bridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Peabody, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Winnfield at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st.
