5A District 6 recap October 29, 2013
South Sumter added to the longest winning streak in 5A District 6 this week by beating Weeki Wachee, 63-20. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
The Hornets fell to South Sumter 63-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. David Tinch was a bright spot for Weeki Wachee, as he threw for 139 yards and ran for 24 yards in the loss.
Malik Johns was a passing and rushing force as Pasco beat Central. Johns' favorite target this week was Nate Craig, who caught 4 passes for 13 yards.
Johns was a beast in the backfield as the Pirates defeated the Bears.
Johns was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 260 yards on 15 carries as Pasco topped Hernando. Teammate Jaquan Clower added to the ground attack by rushing for 96 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Marcus Allen of Mark Lee's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 577. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Brockington. The Zephyrhills star has 21 catches for 405 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Tom Mchugh's team takes on the Bulldogs. As it stands, the Pirates are in third, while Zephyrhills is in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Pasco and Reginald Roberts' team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Pirates comes in having scored 229 this season, while the Bulldogs have scored 249. Pasco scored 46 points last week as it topped Central.
Inman Sherman's team led 5A District 6 in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on the Hornets.
